Boston Dynamics Unveils Atlas 2.0: The Most Agile Humanoid Robot Ever

Boston Dynamics has revealed Atlas 2.0, a completely redesigned humanoid robot that represents a quantum leap in robotic agility and dexterity. The new model weighs 40% less than its predecessor while being significantly stronger and more capable.

Atlas 2.0 features revolutionary new electric actuators that provide the power and precision needed for both dynamic movements like running and jumping, as well as delicate manipulation tasks such as handling eggs or electronic components. The robot's new hands feature 20 degrees of freedom, approaching the dexterity of human hands.

The robot is being positioned for commercial deployment in warehouse and logistics operations. Amazon and DHL have already signed agreements for pilot programs, with plans to deploy small fleets of Atlas 2.0 units in their distribution centers starting Q3 2026.

CEO Robert Playter emphasized that the robot is designed to augment human workers rather than replace them. "Atlas 2.0 excels at tasks that are dangerous, repetitive, or physically demanding. It works alongside human team members, handling the heavy lifting while humans manage complex decision-making and quality control."

The starting price for commercial units is set at $250,000, with leasing options available. Boston Dynamics expects the price to drop below $100,000 within three years as manufacturing scales.
